Travel Vaccinations

Our Practice Nurse offers travel advice and an immunisation service. They offer help with:

  • Vaccinations
  • Preventing malaria (using tablets and avoiding bites)
  • Looking after your skin (sunburn and heat rash)

We need time to make sure we give you the correct travel advice. We like to check your records for past immunisations and illnesses and run a check on the diseases that are prevalent in areas where you are travelling.

Please be aware that most travel immunisation and advice is covered by the NHS. Most anti-malaria tablets can be bought directly from your pharmacy. There are some, however, that we have to prescribe for you on a non-NHS prescription. The pharmacy will ask you to pay for the cost of the tablets and the practice will charge a fee of £10.00.

Please download and complete the Travel Questionnaire and return it to the Reception at least 6 weeks before your departure:

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 8 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
